[LONDON] - Great & Affordable Restaurants

There have been comments that London is a "gourmet desert", but for me, in a desert there's always oases. This time, I will handpick a number of great restaurants that I'm impressed and mostly importantly, with an affordable price range.

Burger and Lobster

It seems impossible for anyone to go home before visiting Burger and Lobster. Although there are a total of eleven branches in London, you have to be prepared to spend some time on lining up since they don't take any booking. Interestingly, they do not have a menu, or you won't actually need one, because they serve either burger or lobster! It's actually good for people like me who usually struggle to make choice. Despite this, there are three dishes for you to pick: Nebraska Steak Burger,Fresh Canadian Lobster and Japanese Lobster Roll.

The Nebraska Steak Burger is very nice. The meat patty, which is made of 100% Angus beef from Nebraska, is well-seasoned and extremely juicy. The burger is quite buttery and the surface is crunchy. It is served with frites and a mixed green salad, so the portion is quite impressive regarding it's only £16. You can also pay to top up some cheese or bacons.

Another dish it the Grilled Canadian Lobsters. The sauce made with secret recipes is the soul of the dish, so delicious and appetising! The lobster quite big and meaty, and it is fresh in taste. Also served with frites and a mixed green salad, it only costs £26 which is a pretty good deal.

Address: Fifth Floor Harvey Nichols, 109 – 125 Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7RJ

Giraffe

Craving for some homestyle breakfast? Giraffe is a probably one of the best places you'd like to place a visit. Giraffe is a chain throughout London and the price here is really inexpensive. Sitting by the window while enjoying these grilled bacons, scramble egg and toasts only costs you £5.

Duck & Waffle *Highly recommended*

This is my favourite restaurant in London, no doubt! This renowned restaurant is situated on the fortieth floor, making it the highest restaurant in town. It is a restaurant that never sleeps as it will never run out of visitors. To get there you have to take a glass lift, which is pretty terrific and speedy. It is highly recommended to follow the dress code and make a booking in advance. From the floor-to-ceiling windows, you can enjoy a striking and mind-blowing panoramic view of the city.

This is the signature Duck & Waffle (£21). It is simply a perfect piece of food art. The hot and crispy waffle serves as a beautiful bed for the duck confit, topped with a flawless fried duck egg. The maple syrup works out magically, making the dish unbeatable and even more exquisite.

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese

Once you step inside the restaurant you will instantly sense the historical ambiance. Right, it's  time to go back in time and experience the great traditional food of a few centuries ago. Prominent writers such as Samuel Johnson and Charles Dickens were regular customers. Johnson's favourite chair is still well preserved here.

The Steak and Ale Pie tastes authentic. The use of Guinness constructs a bittersweet flavour, which goes well with the beef. The Fried Calamari is extremely crunchy. It is a perfect side dish.

Angus Steak House

In Piccadilly Circus alone, Augus Steak House already has a total of three branches. Some might consider it is a little bit touristy, but the food and pricing here is really not bad.

The Angus Sliced Steak is
perfectly medium-rare, the middle with a hint of pink looks so fascinating and mouthwatering. Served with a herb butter, the steak tastes like heaven. We ordered some extra sweet potato fries, which were crispy on the surface and soft inside.

Bernes Tavern

If you want to have an extravagant all day breakfast experience but still within budget, Bernes Tavern might sound good to you. Located inside the London Edition Hotel, the decoration here presents a high-end style. All ingredients are delectable and the service is EXCEPTIONAL! So ladies and gentlemen, forget about the reality and get indulged in this grand morning treat.

Address: 10 Berners St, Fitzrovia, London W1T 3NP

The Sherlock Holmes

If you are a fan of Mr. Holmes, you should definitely stop by this fantastic pub and restaurant. The traditional design gives you a sense of old-timey England atmosphere.

When it comes to food pairing, no one would argue that fish and chips go best with beeeeeer. Soon you will understand why Brits are so into this particular dish. It is so flavourful and non-greasy, you just can't stop eating once you have started! The signature brew of their own is Sherlock Holmes Ale, also known as Morland Original Bitter (Cask), is a dark beer with quite a strong taste.

After satisfying your tummy, don't forget to check out the Holmes-themed memorabilia on the attic before you go!

Hope you enjoyed this, and that you can make to these lovely restaurants someday.
