[HONG KONG] - The Kerry Hotel: A luxury haven in the city

If you have been longing for a home-away-from-home city breaks this summer, The Kerry Hotel is a rare gem you'll be glad to discover. The Kerry is a brand within Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts situated on the Victoria Harbour waterfront in Whampoa, offering spectacular panoramic harbour views for guests.

The Hotel is spotlessly clean and maintains the perfect balance of romantic charm. As for the setting and location, you'll marvel at the breathtaking scenery from the Premier Sea View Room which I was staying this time. The room, which is fitted with full-size windows, showcases sweeping views of Victoria Harbour and offers ample space for a thorough care and relaxation. The décor is understated luxury accented with the cool and stylish nuances of the Kerry blue and grey.

Upon my arrival, I also got to try out the newly-launched Garden Afternoon Tea, which is a collaboration with Les Nereides, at the Lobby Lounge. The tea is inspired by Les Néréides 2019 Spring Summer Collection, ‘Luxurious Canopy’ &‘Hanging Garden’. The exotic flavours and delicate presentation are synonymous with the bold pastoral flowers and animals, signature elements of the new collections. Savoury includes Son in Law Egg and Coconut Pad Thai Wrap presents a hint of the taste of Southeast Asia, while the Foie Gras Ganache Tart was simply flawless and unforgettable. The combination of dark chocolate, pomegranate and Foie Gras totally worked out the magic, it's definitely one of the best Foie Gras tarts I've ever had! As for the beautiful Flower Crab Meat Cone, Passion fruit, Mint and Sesame and ‘The Toucan’,
The highlight of the sweet is The Toucan, which is a roasted coconut and milk chocolate mousse in the form of a beak. This delicate piece of dessert was carefully handcrafted by the Pastry Chef,  it certainly was a treat to their eye as well as my palate. Besides, the warm baked scones were served with strawberry & pomegranate preserve, clotted cream and a homemade chocolate and hazelnut spread.

What's more, each tea set comes with a limited edition “Kerry x Les Néréides” branded bracelet along with shopping vouchers, which would be available while stocks last. You should start dating your bestie for it by now!

After spending some time enjoying the view at my room, I was thrilled to be exposed to the exclusive enjoyment at the Club Lounge on the 8th Floor. The club serves daily semi-buffet breakfast, evening cocktails and canapés. The alcohol choices were extensive and the canapés were served hot with quick refills.

As for the breakfast, we could choose a main course from the menu and enjoyed a range of hot food and pastries.

Fancy a run with views extending over Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island? Stop by the gym room that locates on the fourth floor. If the weather is fine, do visit also the Infinity Pool where you can overlook the stunning harbour. What impressed me greatly was the fact that it is actually heated, as it was a bit chilly that morning.

If you are looking for something a little more luxurious and special during your stay in Hong Kong, this’ll be the place. And even for my fellow locals who might be reading, treat yourself!
